Description Key Spec's   Designed to increase patient compliance, the Invacare Polaris EX CPAP is equipped with a revolutionary technology called SoftX, named after the soft exhalation sensation it creates. SoftX makes breathing with CPAP feel natural and more comfortable for patients. SoftX™ Technology Designed to increase patient compliance, patent-pending SoftX Technology makesexhalation more comfortable for patients by reducing the duration of pressure spikes during exhalation. Most conventional CPAPs use a variable speed blower to provide flow at a constant pressure. To maintain this pressure, the CPAP blower must rapidly increase or decrease its speed relative to changes in the patient’s inspiratory or expiratory flow. However, changes in blower speed may not occur rapidly enough to maintain a constant mask pressure, resulting in pressure swings. These pressure swings can contribute to discomfort during exhalation. SoftX Technology uses an active, variable resistance valve and a constant speed blower to significantly enhance response time and reduce pressure swings. Changes in valve position divert air away from the patient during exhalation and direct air towards the patient during inhalation. Discomfort during exhalation is reduced, not by lowering the expiratory pressure below the prescribed level, but by decreasing the duration of the pressure spike. This approach promotes stability of the upper airway before the next inhalation.   Features: SoftX Technology is standard in the Polaris EX with SoftX; however, it is possible to set the unit as a standard CPAP. Designed to be integrated for use with the Invacare Polaris EX EZ-Fill Heated Humidifier Quick Code(tm)compliance report provides summary usage data that is easily accessed by patients and clinicians.
